Mindfulness-Based Interventions for Cancer Patients and Survivors are Associated with Positive Health Outcomes
This study is an analysis of the effects of mindfulness-based interventions (MBIs) on positive health outcomes in cancer patients and survivors. The authors included 46 randomized trials evaluating the effect of MBIs compared to any type of control intervention on positive health outcomes in cancer patients or survivors. Statistically significant positive effects were observed for all health outcomes immediately post-treatment, including mindfulness skills, self-compassion, positive affect, coping, social support, well-being, personal growth, and spirituality. At follow-up, statistically significant positive effects were still found for mindfulness skills, self-compassion, personal growth, and spirituality. The authors concluded that MBIs may play a key role in improving well-being among cancer patients and survivors. Badaghi N, Buskbjerg C, Kwakkenbos LB, et al.
