Mindfulness-Based Interventions During Pregnancy Can Reduce Postpartum Depression Symptoms
This metanalysis evaluated the efficacy of mindfulness-based interventions (MBIs) delivered during pregnancy on post-partum depression. Five randomized controlled trials with a total of 401 participants were included in the quantitative analysis. Overall, MBIs significantly reduced post-partum depression symptom severity in the MBI group compared to the control group in the first three months after childbirth (standardized mean difference = -0.26; 95% confidence interval = -0.51 to -0.01). The authors concluded that MBIs delivered during pregnancy have significant benefits in reducing post-partum depression symptoms. Trapani S, Caglioni M, Giulia V, et al.
