The Mindfulness Center, in collaboration with Hoos Well and UVA HR, will be conducting an 8-week Advanced Mindful Leadership Training Course starting on February 15. Mindful leadership is based on developing self-awareness and in cultivating self-regulation skills in order to be able to lead others most effectively. Being a mindful leader also requires understanding others’ perspectives, communicating effectively, and inspiring others. This course is based on the evidence-backed “gold standard” for mindfulness training: the 8-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) curriculum developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn that has been taught through the Mindfulness Center since 1995.
Participation is limited to managers and leaders who are part of UVA Health, UVA Academic Division, University Physicians Group, or UVA-Wise, and who have taken one of the following courses: Hoos Well Mindful Leadership Program, provided by eMindful; an 8-week MBSR-based course provided by the UVA Mindfulness Center; (including Mindfulness for Health System Employees) or prior completion of an academic course or comparable program on mindfulness at UVA (minimum 8-week duration).
The course will begin February 15 from 4 to 6 pm and will meet for two hours a week for 8-weeks, with a 4-hour silent retreat on March 27. Click here for more information. https://hr.virginia.edu/mindful-leadership-skills-training or contact Matthew Fritts at mjf5k@virginia.edu or 434-924-4748.
