Update on Mindfulness for Health System Employees Classes

September 3, 2020 by hw8w@virginia.edu

The Mindfulness Center just finished the fifth Mindfulness for Health System Employees class conducted in conjunction with the Be Wise program.  These eight-week classes are now offered virtually and are free for all UVA Health employees.  Over 160 team members have enrolled from across the Health System, including those employed by the Medical Center, UPG, and the Schools of Medicine and Nursing.  The initial evaluation of the program  demonstrated significant improvements in burnout, stress and self-compassion scores among the participants.  On average, individuals who completed the classes rated them as excellent overall (4.5 out of 5), and noted strong positive personal change (4.5 out of 5).  The next class begins September 30.
