Dorrie Fontaine, Dean of the School of Nursing, to Retire on July 31

Dorrie Fontaine, who has been Dean of the School of Nursing since 2008, is retiring on July 31.  She has been a strong proponent of mindfulness, compassion and promoting healthy work environments during her tenure as Dean.  Among her many accomplishments, she founded the Compassionate Care Initiative (https://cci.nursing.virginia.edu/ ), and supported many UVa health care providers involved in end of life care to attend the Being with Dying program with Roshi Joan Halifax at the Upaya Zen Center.   She gave the 2019 Commencement Address at the University of Virginia which can be viewed here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQnKGu2o0uE .
