The Insight Meditation Community of Charlottesville’s fall retreat is being held from October 10-13 at Serenity Ridge in Nelson County. is being held from October 10-13 at Serenity Ridge in Nelson County. It is being taught by UVa Mindfulness Center Instructor Susan Stone and Duke Integrative Medicine MBSR Instructor Ron Vereen.
Participants will engage with a variety of mindfulness practices (sitting, walking, mindful movement, inquiry, chanting, mindful speaking and listening) to reveal the stillness that is already present. As stated in the retreat description, “What if we simply need to be still so as to see what’s getting in the way of more ease, well-being, and insight?”
In addition to being a Mindfulness Center instructor, Susan Stone is a senior teacher with the Insight Meditation Community of Charlottesville and is the author of four books, including At the Eleventh Hour, a memoir about mindfulness and caregiving.
Ron Vereen is a practicing psychiatrist and psychotherapist in Durham, N.C., a Consulting Associate in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Duke University, and an instructor in the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Program at Duke Integrative Medicine.
