2023 School of Medicine Research Highlights

In FY2023, the School of Medicine had a record-breaking 27% increase in research funding, making our ability to advance scientific discoveries that lead to life-saving medical treatments more impactful on a global scale. With over $287 million in total research dollars and $181 million in NIH research awards, our School is an internationally recognized innovative and collaborative leader in research pioneering treatments that will change patients’ lives. The recent ground breaking for the Paul and Diane Manning Institute of Biotechnology underscores UVA’s commitment to cutting-edge, interdisciplinary science that improves human health.
