Moving Beyond Ordinary Wellness: A new Pradigm for Full-Spectrum Living

May 27, 2015 by School of Medicine Webmaster

A workshop for helping professionals and others interested in personal wellbeing and greater health for the community

On June 26 & 27 a workshop entitled Moving Beyond Ordinary Wellness:  A new paradigm for full spectrum living will be presented at Unity Church. This event is done in partnership with the Compassionate Care Initiative, Hygeia Health Services, and Unity of Charlottesville. The program brings pioneers in wellness and wellbeing to our community to investigate topics such as A Roadmap to Full-Spectrum Wellness by wellness innovator John W. Travis, MD, MPH; Bringing Greater Wellness into the Heart by Duke’s Integrative Medicine provider Jim Dykes MD; and The Healing Power of Connection by the Mindfulness Center’s Susanna Williams, PhD who will describe how biography influences biology – AND how mindfulness practices can expand personal choices in this context.

Exploring topics related to wellness and health from conception to end-of-life, the program will offer a sampler of mini workshops for participants to experience practices such as mindfulness, deep relaxation, sound healing, or laughter yoga for a hands-on experience. There will also be the opportunity for a supervised exploration of an online Wellness Inventory that leads participants through a personalized health assessment.

Please join us at Unity Church, 2825 Hydraulic Rd, Charlottesville
Friday June 26 from 6:00 – 9:00 and Saturday June 27 from 9:45 – 4:30
