Volunteer with Habitat on Aug. 14!

July 17, 2015: Habitat staff are in blue shirts; with DOM faculty and staff (l-r): Roopa Naik, MD (Hospital Medicine); Jim McGowan, ID division administrator; Russ Dinsmore, DOM IT systems; Connie Pace and (partially hidden) Joi Estep, GI fiscal and grant administration; Dawn Kidd (assistant to the chief, Nephrology). Thanks to all for participating! (Photo by Lance Buckley)

Many thanks to the DOM faculty and staff who participated in the July 17th Habitat volunteer day.

The next DOM/Habitat volunteer day is Friday, August 14. Sign up now!

Come sling a hammer, hang some drywall, use your paid volunteer leave time…  and get a free lunch and t-shirt!

Join a DOM work crew for a chance to help build a house and support our Charlottesville neighbors who are working towards a home of their own. It’s a great opportunity to spend time with your DOM colleagues in an informal setting–and if you are new to UVA and Charlottesville, a great way to get to know the community.

The gang’s all here! Joi Estep is visible in this photo (but not the one above) — 3rd from left. The rest (l-r) are Jim McGowan, Dawn Kidd, Roopa Naik, Connie Pace & Russ Dinsmore.

– Hours: 7:45 am-2:30 pm
– Staff can use paid volunteer leave time (16 hours/year)
– Lunch and t-shirt provided
– 10 spots available – first come, first served
– Habitat staff will email you with location, directions & other logistical information a couple of days before the work day.
