Robert Dreicer Joins Cancer Center As Deputy Director

Robert Dreicer, MD, MS, FACP, FASCO, a distinguished clinician, researcher and administrator, joined the Cancer Center in early January as its new Deputy Director and Associate Director for Clinical Research. He also joins the Department of Medicine faculty in the Division of Hematology-Oncology, where he will serve as the division’s section head for Medical Oncology.

Dr. Dreicer joins U.Va joins UVA from the Cleveland Clinic, where he served as chair of the Department of Solid Tumor Oncology, and as Deputy Associate Director for Clinical Research at Case Comprehensive Cancer Center. Dr. Dreicer is board-certified in internal medicine and medical oncology. His specialty areas include the management of genitourinary malignancies, and the design and conduct of clinical trials in urologic oncology.

As the Cancer Center’s Associate Director for Clinical Research, Dr. Dreicer will work on strengthening its clinical research enterprise by engaging Cancer Center clinicians and researchers in the development and implemention of clinical trials evaluating cutting-edge cancer therapies. He will also provide administrative and scientific oversight for the Cancer Center’s Office for Clinical Research (OCR), its Protocol Review Committee, and its Data and Safety Monitoring Committee. He will seek to build relations between the OCR and physician researchers, and identify opportunities for research development. Dr. Dreicer will play a key role at the Cancer Center in guiding its basic, translational, clinical, and population research programs, and will work with its leadership on strategic planning for the future.
