October 7, 2013 by School of Medicine Webmaster

Mark DeBoer, MDThe 2013 Robert J. Roberts Award Winner is Mark D. DeBoer, MD, MSc, MCR. You all know that Mark is an outstanding clinician, teacher and researcher, and a highly deserving recipient of this year’s award. You know Mark’s many contributions to our clinical and teaching missions, and recall that he was inducted last year into the Academy of Distinguished Educators. And it comes as no surprise to any of us that he is a USNWR Top Doctor. But you may not be closely following his research career: In last month’s Pediatrics, for example, Mark was first author on TWO articles:

1: Deboer MD, Wiener RC, Barnes BH, Gurka MJ. Ethnic differences in the link between insulin resistance and elevated ALT. Pediatrics. 2013 Sep;132(3):e718-26. doi: 10.1542/peds.2012-3584. Epub 2013 Aug 12. PubMed PMID: 23940240.

2: Deboer MD, Scharf RJ, Demmer RT. Sugar-sweetened beverages and weight gain in 2- to 5-year-old children. Pediatrics. 2013 Sep;132(3):413-20. doi:10.1542/peds.2013-0570. Epub 2013 Aug 5. PubMed PMID: 23918897.
