As we approach Thanksgiving, I would like to take a moment to thank all of you in the School of Medicine who work tirelessly for the betterment of our patients through delivering clinical care, conducting impactful research, educating the next generation, or contributing to our community.
We have a talented and passionate group of students, faculty, staff, and trainees who work hard to help others—work that is immensely rewarding, but often comes with great personal sacrifice. I am grateful for the School of Medicine community and for the family and friends who support all of you every day.
Last week, it was an honor to meet with some of our accomplished professionals and their supporters at our annual faculty awards ceremony. Given how special this ceremony is, it seemed fitting that the ceremony was just before Thanksgiving, as there is no better time to express my gratitude for their unwavering commitment to our patients through all of our mission areas.
Our team members are the lifeblood of our wonderful School, and I deeply appreciate the vital role each of you plays in our community. I hope everyone can relax, recharge, and enjoy quality time with loved ones this Thanksgiving season.
With gratitude,
Melina Kibbe, MD
Dean, UVA School of Medicine
