The School of Medicine Dean’s Office held its faculty awards ceremony on November 21, 2024, in the Claude Moore Education Building. This annual event recognizes faculty for their sustained impact on the success of our students and trainees, patients, colleagues, and the advancement of science and medicine.
“I am proud of our faculty and their contributions to continued excellence in teaching, research, scholarship, and clinical programs,” stated Dean Melina Kibbe, MD, in her opening remarks.
The ceremony also honors endowed professorship electees. Endowed professorships are made possible by generous gifts from donors, which allows the School of Medicine to recruit and retain some of the best and brightest physicians and scientists in the world.
“We are incredibly thankful for the generosity of our many donors that made these endowed professorships possible. They are vital to our community and our mission, strengthening everything we do,” said Dean Kibbe.
Out of a total of 93 nominations that were submitted, 21 faculty from across clinical and research departments were selected to receive one of these prestigious awards. In total, 22 faculty were recognized for receiving awards, including one external award. Impressively, this year, we also honored a total of 26 newly elected endowed professors, including several department chairs.
The awards ceremony was attended by about 100 awardees and their families, department chairs, nominators, and committee members. Dean Melina Kibbe, MD, provided a welcome and opening remarks. Awards were presented by Sue Pollart, MD, Senior Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs and Faculty Development; Timothy Bender, PhD; Meg Keeley, MD; Jeff Martens, PhD; Kate McManus, MD; Posy Marzani, MD; Mike Ryan, MD; and Megan Tracci, MD, JD.
