Shannon Moonah, MD, ScM, an assistant professor in the Department of Medicine, was awarded an R01 grant from the NIH to study mucosal wound healing. A better understanding of wound closure mechanisms may ultimately lead to effective mucosal healing therapies, improving the quality of life for many people.
