Research in Motion: Jay Fox, PhD

September 4, 2024 by daf4a@virginia.edu

Years ago, when I arrived at the University of Virginia, my research was focused on discovering toxins in snake venoms that give rise to the hemorrhage associated with snake bites. Since that time, we’ve been able to develop antibodies as well as antidotes to those toxins, and more recently, we’ve been involved in exploring the mechanisms of passive biology associated with the toxins in the local tissue damage. —Jay Fox, PhD, Professor, Department of Microbiology, Immunology, & Cancer Biology
