Kristine Zengeler, a PhD candidate in the Department of Neuroscience Lukens Lab, wrote an article for The Conversation on research about neurodegenerative diseases and the brain’s ability to cleanse and heal itself. The research points to a protein that could help the brain’s immune cells, called microglia, ward off Alzheimer’s disease.
