National Medical Laboratory Professionals Week is April 14-20, an annual celebration of medical lab professionals and pathologists who play a vital role in every aspect of healthcare.
Lab professionals include phlebotomists, specimen management techs, medical lab scientists, histotechnologists, cytotechnologists, pathologist assistants, cellular therapy specialists, customer service, computing analysts, and more. They work behind the scenes throughout UVA Health to perform 4.3 million lab tests per year to assist clinicians with patient diagnoses, treatments and disease monitoring or prevention.
This year’s lab week theme, “The Lab is everything,” recognizes the crucial work laboratorians perform every day to ensure accurate and timely lab results. Their professionalism, dedication and expertise is patient-centric and inspiring. Happy Lab Week!
