Kibbe-Tsihlis Lab

The School of Medicine is proud to support sustainability in our research labs. At the University of Virginia there are 16 labs that are Gold Certified Green Labs, and 13 of these labs are in the School of Medicine. Congratulations to all the labs and researchers who are going the extra mile to incorporate sustainability into their laboratory practices to reduce environmental impact!

The most recent School of Medicine lab to be certified a green lab is the Kibbe-Tsihlis Lab, where Principal Investigators Melina Kibbe, MD, and Nick Tsihlis, PhD, and their team are researching novel therapies for patients with vascular diseases through interdisciplinary approaches, combining biomedical engineering, materials science, and chemistry.  You can read more about how the Kibbe-Tsihlis Lab is leading the way in sustainable research practices on the UVA Sustainability website.
