Researchers are invited to apply to the 2024 Biomedical Data Science Innovation Lab.
What is the Biomedical Data Science Innovation Lab?
A hybrid academic program consisting of online team-building activities and a virtual seminar series that lead-up to an all-expenses-paid, 5-day grant-writing workshop at Bahia Resort Hotel in San Diego, California.
Working under the direction of professional facilitators and the guidance of experienced mentors, teams at this year’s lab will develop interdisciplinary projects to generate creative strategies on the use of data science approaches for creating new strategic partnerships between AI developers, biomedical researchers, and educators. In addition, the lab will include opportunities for learning about NIH and NSF funding through direct interaction with program officers.
When and Where?
Virtual “Microlabs”: May 3, 17, 31, 2024
In-Person Lab: June 16 – 20, 2024 at Bahia Resort Hotel
Virtual Seminar Series (Open to Public): October-April Fridays at 12-1 p.m. ET via The Foundations of Biomedical Data Science YouTube Channel. All are welcome, join us!
Who can apply?
U.S.-based researchers at the late-stage postdoctoral and early-stage junior faculty levels. Women scientists and researchers from under-represented minorities are particularly welcome and highly encouraged to apply.
The BDSIL is a fantastic (and free!) networking and grant-writing opportunity that fosters authentic collaboration between early-career researchers with guidance from experienced mentors and NIH officials. In the words of Director Dr. Jack Van Horn, “We help to encourage interdisciplinary teams to think differently, spark new ideas, develop novel research projects, challenge themselves, and to be innovative.”
