Message From the Chair – April 2020

It is hard to believe that spring is here and we are facing challenges that none of us probably ever imagined. As I have communicated, I am confident in our abilities to stand up to this challenge and our response thus far has been nothing short of amazing. I am sure that our excellence, resolve and determination will continue to shine.

It is easy to become consumed with all things COVID-19 and I hope you will take some time and read through this month’s Medicine Matters. You will see that our lives are continuing, our community is thriving and our excellence in all our missions is evident. The Division of Hematology and Oncology has seen tremendous growth over the past ten years and is now leading the region in cancer care and will continue to gain national and international prominence. My thanks to Dr. Michael Williams for his leadership over this time. As you may have heard, Dr. Williams will be turning leadership of the Division over to Dr. Karen Ballen this summer. Dr. Ballen will continue our plans for attaining Comprehensive Cancer Center status and growing the Division to ensure we are at the cutting edge of cancer care.

Enjoy a break and see what your colleagues are doing!
