7 DOM Faculty Members Complete SOM’s Junior Faculty Development Program

The School of Medicine’s Junior Faculty Development Program (JFDP) is designed to provide networking opportunities and peer mentoring among colleagues at a similar stage in their careers. It promotes development and advancement of junior faculty through twice-monthly seminars and mentored scholarly projects. Each faculty member pursues a research project over the academic year, with a senior faculty member serving as a mentor and resource. Participants give presentations on their project at the end of the program.

The program was launched in October 2016 with a cohort of 12 junior faculty members — of whom seven came from the Department of Medicine:

  • Sula Mazimba, MD – Cardiovascular Medicine
  • Jeanetta W. Frye, MD – Gastroenterology & Hepatology
  • Simon J. Lehtinen, MD – General, Geriatric, Palliative & Hospital Medicine
  • Laahn H. Foster, MD – Hematology-Oncology
  • Michael K. Keng, MD – Hematology-Oncology
  • Sana F. Khan, MBBS  -Nephrology
  • Gilbert R. Kinsey, DPHARM, PhD – Nephrology

On April 19, the inaugural group presented their scholarly projects, and posed for a group photo. Congratulations especially to our Department of Medicine faculty who completed the program!
