W. Gerald Teague, MD
W. Gerald Teague, Jr., MD, a professor of pediatrics in the Department of Pediatrics’ Pulmonary Division, talked with Newsweek about research into the prevalence of long COVID in children.
In the article, Dr. Teague said, “There are too few prospective studies to compare estimates of long COVID to asthma in children. We need to come to consensus on how to precisely diagnose long COVID in children first.” He further stated National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the federal government should “allocate more funding to antiviral research in children to help clear these confusing issues.”
