Scott Hollenbeck, MD, the Raymond F. Morgan Professor and chair of the UVA School of Medicine Department of Plastic Surgery, Maxillofacial and Oral Health, was featured on Good Morning America discussing treatments for “Ozempic face.”
As GLP-1 medications become more popular for weight loss, more individuals may seek cosmetic surgery to address a loss of facial fat and volume—a common effect of the rapid weight loss associated with these treatments.
According to Dr. Hollenbeck, “Patients are requesting addressing the lower portion of their face and the excess skin and sagging, and that’s best approached with a face lift and neck lift.”
