Neeral Shah, MD, an associate professor in the Department of Medicine’s Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, was interviewed by NPR’s Radio IQ program about the beneficial effects of taking a break from alcohol after the holidays — a tradition referred to as “Dry January.”  In the interview, Shah says, “People have shown beneficial effects of taking a break from alcohol: Better sleep hygiene, lower blood pressures, clearer complexion in their skin, weight loss and recovery of the liver.”

Dr. Shah also shared his expertise about the advantages of taking one month off from drinking in a recent story in UVA Today.
