Cardiologist Kanwar Singh, MD, an associate professor in the UVA Department of Medicine, was featured on TV stations locally and nationally about using renal denervation to treat high blood pressure, or hypertension. Renal denervation is a minimally invasive procedure where nerves around the kidneys are targeted and disrupted to help lower high blood pressure.
If not controlled, hypertension can be deadly according to Dr. Singh. “Hypertension is one of these sorts of silent killers. It’s not necessarily something folks will have symptoms with while it’s smoldering along oftentimes out of control,” Singh said.
