Jennifer L. Kirby, MD, PhD, an endocrinologist in the Department of Medicine, was interviewed for an article in the The Free Lance-Star that was picked up by the Associated Press and shared nationwide, including The Washington Post.
The article titled “Virginia woman with lymphedema is getting her life back” discusses some of the challenges faced by patients with lymphedema, a condition affecting the lymph nodes that can cause swelling due to a buildup of lymph fluid in the body. Congress recently approved the Lymphedema Treatment Act which will expand Medicare coverage for the condition.
