In this latest episode of ASTCT Talks, a podcast of the American Society for Transplantation and Cellular Therapy, Firas El Chaer, MD talks with Alpana Waghmare, MD and Michael Ison, MD about the winter tridemic, which includes COVID, flu and Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).

They discuss the diagnostic and treatment approaches for the Tridemic in recipients of hematopoietic cell transplantation and cellular therapy, examine the precautions and best practices for recipients of hematopoietic cell transplantation and more.  The podcast was recorded was recorded on December 21, 2022.

Dr. Firas El Chaer is an assistant professor in UVA SOM’s  Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology and Oncology.

Dr. Alpana Waghmare is a pediatric infectious diseases physician at the University of Washington and an adjunct professor at the Fred Hutch Cancer Center. She specializes in the treatment and prevention of infectious diseases with a focus on respiratory infections and their impact on vulnerable populations.

Dr. Michael Ison is the Respiratory Disease Branch Chief within the Division of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases at National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases/National Institutes of Health (NIAID/NIH).
