Q: Describe your work/your team and how you support the department.
A: I am the Senior Administrative Assistant for the Division of Neonatology. I took over for Linda Crawford when she retired after 31 years at UVA. I handle the daily needs for all Faculty and Fellows. I am one of the R&R Role Mangers for the Department of Pediatrics and I share the role with Jordan McCoy, Lisa Rogers, and Sean Purnell. Our team is  responsible for rolling out a new, department-wide reward program for Mentors and Experts.

Q. What are you most excited about in your new role?
A: I’m excited about being able to work with a team of people that are always willing to help each other out.  Each team member has taken the time to ask how I am doing and if there is anything that I need.  The Faculty are wonderful and caring and treat me with respect and give me positive support.

Q. What is your proudest/greatest achievement outside of the professional realm?
A: Organizing a yearly fundraiser in memory of my deceased Nephew Little Johnny who died at the age of 12.  All money raised is given as a scholarship to Rappahannock County High School, which was his school district. I also created and chaired the Relay for Life in Madison County for 3 years. I greatly enjoy volunteering my time and helping others.

Q. What are you usually doing on the weekend or during time off?
A: You’ll find me taking care of my parents or taking a leisurely drive with my husband.

Q. What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
A: Give with an open heart. Understand that things could always be worse than they are. Find the good in every day. And remember, we are in charge of our own happiness.

Q. What about you would surprise us?
A: I don’t know how to swim. I have tried to learn may times, but I don’t like the water on my face. (Even so, I still love to get in the pool and go to the beach!)
