From Randy Canterbury:
Dear Colleagues, I write to solicit self-nominations to serve on the School of Medicine Admissions Committee. We have an unexpected “last minute” vacancy on the committee which I’d like to fill as soon as possible. The time commitment is interviewing every other Thursday afternoon for 24 weeks plus a committee meeting every Friday morning from 8:30-10:30 for those same weeks. The committee meets from the first full week of September until the first week of March excluding holiday weeks, i.e., Thanksgiving week and the two weeks that include Christmas and New Years. Due to the time commitment, this is a paid committee membership.
The Admissions Committee is one of the very most important committees in the school of medicine. As a member, you have the wonderful opportunity of selecting our medical school class from the best, brightest and most diverse applicants to medical school in the United States. You also have the opportunity of marketing Virginia Medicine to the world. From having incredible pleasure of chairing this committee for many years, I can tell you that it’s challenging work and tremendous FUN!
If you have the interest and availability, please let me know. As I said, we’d like to fill the available position as soon as possible. If you have questions, please contact Dr. Densmore, Dr. Marzani or me. We’re happy to answer them.
