There was fun for all ages on Tuesday, August 27, from 4-7 PM at the UVA Pediatric Clinic in Orange. The clinic hosted its first Reading Celebration Party to end the summer’s reading program offered to all patients of the clinic from 18 months–high school. Throughout the summer, children read books and kept a log of their reading. This reading log was turned in on Tuesday evening to earn tickets for door prizes, sno-cones, and the grand prize drawing of two Kindles.
Children enjoyed activities such as face painting, sno-cones, magic tricks, balloon making, and Zumba. In addition, each child was able to choose a free book donated by the Soho Center in Madison County through their partnership with UVA Children’s Hospital. This evening proved to be a great community event for many children in the surrounding counties. We hope that the children’s motivation to read continues throughout this school year and for many years to come!
