The sun was shining on Saturday, June 8th, as the Battle Building, the University Baptist Church and SHENANIGANS hosted their first annual Touch a Truck Event. At the end of the day, there were over 1000 participants! Between the children, their moms and dads, grandparents, and extended families, volunteers and neighbors, there was a crowd on each side of West Main. The children touched eight different trucks: a fire truck, two rescue squads, a Stanley Steamer truck, a construction truck, and a sixteen wheeler took their space in the parking lot of the University Baptist Church and the driveway of the Battle Building. The children enjoyed snacks and treats from Panera’s and snow cones from Kona Ice. There were crafts and T-shirts (while they lasted) but the raffle for big trucks got lots of people signing up. There were lots of smiles and giggles all around.
