Academic Standards and Achievement Committee

July 27, 2015 by School of Medicine Webmaster

From Randy Canterbury, MD, Interim Dean, UVA School of Medicine:

Dear Colleagues,

I write to request that you consider serving on the Academic Standards and Achievement Committee (medical student promotions committee) of the School of Medicine. There are currently two open positions. Members must be full-time faculty (basic scientists and/or clinicians) and be willing to commit approximately an hour each month to service, for a three year term. The LCME accreditation standards forbid the members of the promotions committee from having a substantive role in grading students, e.g., they cannot be course or clerkship directors or other primary role in grading. This is a vital role in the School of Medicine, and I ask that you consider serving the school in this way. If you are interested, please contact me. More information about the committee and its operations may be found here. (Click the link at the top right of the page for the committee’s governing procedures).
