2nd Annual Faculty-Resident Softball Game

October 27, 2014 by School of Medicine Webmaster

Recap from Peter Dean: After last year’s embarrassing loss to the faculty, the residents responded in the 2nd Annual Faculty-Resident Softball Game to tie the series at 1-1. The resident team’s practice and hard work showed as they stormed out to a 5-0 lead in the 1st three innings. The residents created this lead by timely hitting, good base running and capitalizing on some faculty errors. Eventually, the faculty team kicked off the rust and were able to recover some of the deficit, but it was not enough. The momentum seemed to shift toward the faculty team with Jeremy Middleton’s bases clearing triple and George McDaniel’s aggressive baserunning in the 5th inning, but the resident team withstood the charge. The residents added three more runs on the board as insurance in the 6th and 7th innings to bring the final score to 8-5. This sets the stage for a competitive 3rd game in the series.
