William Brady, MD

William Brady, MD, professor, vice chair, and the David A Harrison Distinguished Educator in the Department of Emergency Medicine, was named Editor-in-Chief of the American Journal of Emergency Medicine effective January 1, 2025. The journal publishes original research, evidence-based reviews and reports, correspondence, and opinion relating to adult and pediatric emergency medicine.

Dr. Brady’s research interests focus on emergency cardiovascular issues, cardiac arrest resuscitation, and mass gathering medicine. He has published widely in all three areas, including most recently a textbook entitled Mass Gathering Medicine in 2024. He is also active in the Charlottesville-Albemarle community, serving as the medical director of Albemarle County Fire Rescue and medical advisor to the Charlottesville-UVA-Albemarle Emergency Communications Center (the 911 center).
