Two School of Medicine faculty, Thomas Platts-Mills, MD, and Christopher Holstege, MD, received Thomas Jefferson Awards at a recent University of Virginal Board of Visitors meeting. The Thomas Jefferson Awards are the highest honor given to members of the University community who have exemplified the principles, ideals, and mission of the University, in their character, work, and influence.
Dr. Platts-Mills, a professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Asthma, Allergy and Immunology, was recognized for scholarship. Dr. Holstege, a professor in the Departments of Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics, chief of UVA’s Division of Medical Toxicology, executive director of the Elson Student Health Center, and director of the Blue Ridge Poison Control Center, was honored for service.
