The American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (AAAAI) unanimously named Thomas Platts-Mills, MD, emeritus professor of medicine in the Department of Medicine’s Asthma, Allergy and Immunology Division, as the 2024 recipient of the AAAAI Distinguished Scientist Award.
This lifetime research achievement recognizes his international reputation for identifying the importance of both fungal and dust mite aeroallergen sensitization in the disease course and treatment of both allergic rhinitis and asthma, and the discovery of alpha-gal allergy. He is also recognized for his dedication to fighting for patients and practitioners by pushing the envelope on advances in clinical care, research, and education.
Dr. Platts-Mills will be personally presented this award during an awards luncheon at the 2024 AAAAI Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. Congratulations Dr. Platts-Mills on receiving this prestigious award!
