Kelsey Day, PhD, MPH, is a postdoctoral research associate working with Jamie Zoellner and Becca Krukowski in the Center for Community-Based Healthy Equity Research in the Department of Public Health Sciences and the UVA Comprehensive Cancer Center. Dr. Day was recently awarded one of two Bridging the Gap Research Awards from the Society of Behavioral Medicine out of a pool of 29 applicants.
The award provides resources to help a postdoctoral student prepare a competitive research grant proposal. Dr. Day will use the award funds to conduct a qualitative study of Parks and Recreation leaders in rural Appalachia to understand barriers and facilitators to delivering community-engaged programs to promote physical activity in partnership with rural churches.
