Ifrah Zawar, MD, an assistant professor in the Department of Neurology, was awarded the prestigious Epilepsia Open clinical research prize for 2023. Dr. Zawar received the award for the best clinical article published in 2022 in Epilepsia Open, the open access journal of the International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE). Papers were nominated by the editorial board and the final selection of Dr. Zawar’s paper was made by the Editors-in-Chief of the journal and the ILAE President. The prize is awarded to first authors under age 45 years old to elevate their research and encourage their independent careers. ILAE will also sponsor Dr. Zawar to attend the International Epilepsy Congress in Dublin, Ireland in September 2023 to receive the prize by the ILAE President.
Dr. Zawar’s research article “Risk factors that predict delayed seizure detection on continuous electroencephalogram (cEEG) in a large sample size of critically ill patients” and an interview with Dr. Zawar published in Epilepsia Open are available on the ILAE website.
