Two School of Medicine faculty received 2023 Research Achievement Awards from the Office of Vice President for Research.

Gary Owens, PhD, the Robert M. Berne Professor of Cardiovascular Research, Molecular Physiology and Biological Physics, received a Distinguished Researcher Award, in recognition of his excellence in research through significant discoveries and scholarship.

Amy Bouton, PhD, Professor of Microbiology, Immunology, and Cancer Biology, was honored with the Research Mentor Award, for her dedicated and extraordinary efforts to help other faculty succeed in their research careers.

Awardees will be honored at a Research Achievement Awards Dinner co-hosted by UVA President Jim Ryan, Provost Ian Baucom, and Interim Vice President for Research Fred Epstein on February 1 at the Boar’s Head Pavilion.
