Alden Doyle, MD, a professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Nephrology, has been named co-chair of a pivotal national task force that will study and recommend ways to increase the number of donated organs for transplant and the efficiency of the organ transplant process. The new task force, Expeditious: Organ Usage through Placement Efficiency, was created by the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network to review recommendations and studies and solicit feedback from the donation and transplant clinician community, including those who have personal experience with donation or transplantation.
As a leading transplant nephrologist and Quality Director of Transplant at UVA Health, Dr. Doyle has a stellar track record of success within the UVA Health Transplant Services and Support team. He is extraordinarily qualified to lead this national task force and we anticipate that he’ll have a major impact on improving the lives of transplant patients in Virginia and around the world.
