Departments of Plastic Surgery, General Surgery, Anesthesiology, and Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery hosted a Surgery and Anesthesia Camp for students in the Boys and Girls Club.
Each academic year, our department chairs and administrators work together with School of Medicine leadership to create goals that support measurable achievement in our clinical, research, education and community mission areas.
For FY2022-23, the School of Medicine charged our departments and centers with finding ways to deepen their relationships with the communities we serve by participating in community events. The idea was to foster a sense of pride and togetherness among our faculty, staff, local residents and patients, while meeting needs that improve the lives of everyone in our community.
We are thrilled to report that our faculty and staff took this initiative to heart and stepped up to volunteer for a wide range of activities that made an impact on our community. Our 28 departments and 6 centers hosted or participated in approximately 150 service opportunities throughout the academic year.
We are so proud of everyone in the School of Medicine who volunteered locally in Charlottesville, central Virginia, and even as far away as India! Thank you for reaching out to friends, neighbors, patients and local schools this past year.
