Terri Babineau, MD, an associate professor in the Department of Family Medicine, was featured in the Gold Humanism Honor Society newsletter for her service as volunteer chief medical officer for SafeHaven™, a program founded in 2020 by the Medical Society of Virginia to support physician wellness and prevent burnout. The law protects the information as privileged, so there is no Board of Medicine notification or disclosures to employers, if the clinician isn’t endangering themselves or patients. In 2021, protections were extended to include nurses, pharmacists, and medical, nursing, PA, and pharmacy students.
