The School of Medicine and Department of Surgery are proud to congratulate Linda Martin, MD, on her exceptional leadership as one of four co-chairs at the World Conference on Lung Cancer (WCLC), which kicked-off on September 7, 2024, in San Diego, CA. Sponsored by the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC), the event gathers 7,000 attendees from around the world to discuss cutting-edge advancements in lung cancer care.
Dr. Martin has dedicated the past 18 months to planning this event, and it is thrilling to see her efforts come to fruition. In addition to her role as co-chair, Dr. Martin will present two abstracts, including one marking the conclusion of a seven-year clinical trial for which she is the principal investigator. She is also moderating plenary sessions, organizing a debate, and leading a press conference.
This prestigious event, featuring participation from fellow UVA faculty member Ryan Gentzler, MD, from the UVA Cancer Center, brings tremendous international visibility to UVA Health and highlights the department’s ongoing commitment to pioneering advancements in lung cancer research.
