The Committee on Women in Medicine and Science (COWIMS) is proud to recognize the work of Sarah Boggs, MD, as December’s Woman of the Month, for her outstanding contributions to pediatric medicine.
Dr. Boggs is a primary care pediatrician who leads the UVA Pediatric Residency general pediatrics ambulatory clinic. In addition to her work teaching residents and medical students, Dr. Boggs serves as primary care physician to hundreds of children, many of whom have complex medical and social histories including many recent immigrants to the Charlottesville area. Prior to these roles, Dr. Boggs, who is also board certified in pediatric infectious diseases, worked for 10 years at UVA Pediatrics at Orange and led a pediatric diagnostic dilemmas clinic and the UVA International Adoption Clinic. She developed individualized, comprehensive diagnostic treatment plans through an in-depth review of medical records, in-person evaluations, laboratory testing and evaluations, or specialist referrals. Her approach emphasizes collaboration and continuity of care, whether in her pediatrics practice or in her teaching.
Dr. Boggs’ work exemplifies dedication, compassion, and a commitment to advancing pediatric care, providing hope and healing to families navigating complex health challenges.
COWIMS thanks Dr. Boggs, with gratitude for her tireless efforts, expertise, and commitment to the well-being of her young patients.
