On June 27, 2024, the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics (BMG) celebrated the retirement of Professor David Auble, PhD, who joined the UVA School of Medicine as a BMG faculty member in 1996. Dr. Auble quickly rose through the ranks and has been an exceptional colleague, mentor and interim chair. He served BMG and the larger UVA community with his outstanding scholarship, sense of fairness and humility. He was a past recipient of the Kadner Teaching Award and held one of the longest standing grants from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences. Dr. Auble addressed wellbeing before it became popular and was a source of tremendous support during the pandemic.
We are enormously grateful for Dr. Auble’s countless contributions to the School of Medicine and our community. Dr. Auble will continue his relationship with BMG as a professor emeritus.
