Alan Matsumoto, MD
The UVA Department of Radiology and Medical Imaging celebrated the leadership of Alan Matsumoto, MD, at a reception for alumni and friends on November 28 during the 2023 Radiology Society of North America Annual Meeting in Chicago. Dr. Matsumoto has served as chair of the department since 2009. He will step down at the end of December, and the department will welcome Colin Derdeyn, MD ’88, as its new chair on January 1, 2024.
During the event, the Alan H. Matsumoto, MD, and Julie A. Matsumoto, MD, Endowed Fund was announced. The fund will advance innovation, clinical programs, and education in diagnostic and interventional radiology and imaging sciences at the University of Virginia. The department has invested $1.4 million into this project and will match all contributions to the fund up to $800,000.
