Description/Learning Outcomes: This seminar introduces the concept of the emotion of regret and the psychology behind this negative emotion. We explore the negative impact of long term regret. The primary types of regret as well as strategies to both prevent and address regret will be addressed along with some recent data from UVA about regret in patients. By the end of this learning activity, participants will be able to: define regret and the common types of regret; describe some statistics about regret; list some hypothesized functions of regret; and describe strategies to address regret.
