Join team members of The UVA Health Office of Diversity and Community Engagement in marching in the parade. The parade will begin at 9 am from the Jackson P. Burley Middle School parking lot and conclude at the Jefferson School African American Heritage Center front lawn.
Black business vendors, food, an ancestral tribute, and music will happen on the main stage until 3 p.m. This is an African Diaspora Community Event for direct participants. African diaspora commonly refers to the descendants of the black West and Central Africans who were enslaved and shipped to the Americas via the Atlantic slave trade between the 16th and 19th centuries, with their largest populations in Brazil, the United States, and Haiti (in that order). Broader community viewing participation is welcomed.
