Event LinkHelp Support Pregnant Women in Sierra Leone
Join Partners in Health Engage, an inter-graduate school global health club at UVA, as we raise money for a new Maternal Center of Excellence in Sierra Leone. Currently women in Sierra Leone have a lifetime 1 in 20 risk of dying due to pregnancy or related complications. Out of every 100,000 live births, 1,120 women will die (as opposed to 19 in the United States). This is due to lack of access to operating rooms for C-sections, blood banks for transfusions, life-saving medication, trained staff, and other resource shortages.
We want to help close that resource gap! Please join us in running a 5K on December 2nd at 9am outside Newcomb hall. Wear your favorite holiday sweater and help us give the gift of maternal health this holiday season. Registration link here, website link here. Questions? Email crs9ca@virginia.edu
