The School of Medicine recognizes the uncertainty and challenges facing our research community. To keep you informed about the rapidly evolving research landscape, we will host a Town Hall to address questions and concerns regarding the research mission.
Featured Speakers
- Lori McMahon, Vice President of Research
- Julia Smith, Executive Director for Federal Relations
- Doug Shontz, Associate University Counsel
Currently, a preliminary injunction is in place regarding the proposed 15% cap on indirect rates. The School of Medicine has begun receiving new Notices of Award for grant applications, and non-competing renewals for existing grants are being funded. Some study section meetings have already occurred, with many more now posted in the Federal Register. The University continues to receive its negotiated F&A rate, and we are not aware of any NIH-funded grants within the School of Medicine being administratively canceled.
We understand the stress and uncertainty this situation brings, and we hope the Town Hall will provide helpful guidance. Over the coming months, we also look forward to attending all 29 department faculty meetings. In the meantime, if you have questions or concerns, reach out directly to Melina Kibbe, MD, Dean, or Jeff Martens, PhD, Senior Associate Dean for Research.
